The GEOLOGY Dept. Fall Field Trip 2022

Down a Lazy River: a geological canoe trip on the James River

Friday, Sept. 16th - Saturday, Sept. 17th

No previous experience is needed to canoe, we basically float down the river with the current!

FOOD: the Geology Dept. will provide dinner and campfire treats on Friday, as well as breakfast, lunch, and snacks on Saturday. 

COST to YOU: $0, zero, free

Equipment that you'll need

For camping- tent, sleeping bag, camping pad, and flashlight (the Geology Dept. have some loaners and gear can be rented from the Rec Center)

For the river-

  • Shoes that you can get wet (But NO flip-flops, they come off in moving water @)
  • Shorts and a shirt that can also get wet
  • Wide-brimmed hat or something for your head
  • 1 quart or greater capacity water bottle
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen

After the river- Dry clothes to change back into
