Students selected three films for this series: Aleksei Balabanov's Dead Man's Bluff (2005), Aleksei Fedorchenko's Silent Souls (2010) and Aleksei Uchitel's The Edge (2010).
On Sept. 15, Balabanov's black comedy opens the series and sets up the tone for this celebration of Russia's independence.
