Join Professor Terry Meyers of the English Department on a different tour of the College and CW--one that explores the history of Slavery at places that are close to the campus community today. Gain an understanding of how an atrocious institution shaped this historic area, and learn more about the forms that slavery takes in the modern world.

Slavery and Consumerism: The high costs of cheap labor

Join International Justice Mission for a screening of "Black Gold". The film explores the growth of the coffee industry, and highlights circumstances which perpetually hold people in poverty. In the post-film discussion, we'll focus on global labor practices and standards, including initiatives such as 'fair trade.'

Documentary Screening of Sacrifice: The Story of Child Prostitutes from Burma
Wednesday, March 30th, 8:00-9:30pm

Sacrifice examines the social, cultural, and economic forces at work in the trafficking of Burmese girls into prostitution in Thailand. It is the story of the valuation and sale of human beings, and the efforts of teenage girls to survive a personal crisis born of economic and political repression.

As a part of IJM's Anti-Slavery Campaign, we will have a discussion featuring leaders of the faith communities connected to William and Mary. Come to hear about perspectives on social justice and ask questions about how different religions approach the topic.
