January 27, 2017
2pm - 3pm
Abstract:
Computational Topology is a young field in the algebraic topology. The main concept is to count the Betti numbers of a given complex. Tools from the computational topology has been proven successful in many scientific disciplines, such as fluid dynamics, biology, material science, climatology, etc. In this talk, we will give a brief introduction to computational topology, and its main tool?Persistent Homology. Moreover, we show applications to various noisy datasets arisen from cell biology and climatology.
