Pre-Defense Deadline for Students Submitting a Thesis or Dissertation for January 2026 graduation
Four steps are required at least two weeks before you defend. October 31 is the last day by which you may meet this requirement if you intend to graduate in January 2026.
Pre-Defense Checklist:
1. The Committee Member Appointment Form must be submitted to the OGSR;
2. You must notify the [[w|vlthompsondopp,Office of Graduate Studies]] of your scheduled defense date;
3. The License and Embargo Form must be submitted to the OGSR;
4. A draft of your thesis or dissertation that includes the required pages--particularly the Approval Page--must be uploaded to the W&M ETD Administrator website.
Follow the detailed directions provided on our Thesis and Dissertation website where you will find all required forms and more information. Failure to meet this deadline will delay your graduation to the next degree conferral (May 2026).
