Dr. Douglas Soltis began his academic study in biology at the College of William and Mary, graduating in 1975.  Dr. Soltis is currently Distinguished Professor of Systematics at the University of Florida. He received his PhD form Indiana University in 1980 with a dissertation A study of biosystematic Sullivantia and related studies in the Saxifragaceae. In 2006, he and his wife Dr. Pamela Soltis recieved the Centennial Award from the Botanical Society of America, and the Asa Gray Award from the American Society of Plant Taxonomists. The Tree of Life project is an online, an interactive, dynamic, first-draft tree of all 1.8 million named species (link below).
