In honor of Women’s History Month, The Center for Student Diversity and the Office of Career Development and Professional Engagement will be hosting a Women’s Salary Negotiation Workshop. Join us in the Cohen Career Center’s Presentation Room (112) on Friday, March 22 from 12:15-1:30pm to learn how to navigate these difficult conversations with confidence. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP here: tinyurl.com/wmwhm2024 . Registration will close on Tuesday, March 19. For questions, contact Kimberly Weatherly, [[klweatherly]]. (all are welcome to attend this session)
According to a Pew Research Center survey, most US workers did not ask for higher pay when starting a new job. Among those who did ask for higher pay, men were slightly more likely (32%) to negotiate pay then women (28%). As the gender wage gap stands in the US, in 2022, women typically earned 82 cents for every dollar earned by men. Leaving this money on the table can exponentially affect your career over time.
In this workshop, we will highlight tips and strategies in salary negotiation, as well as provide a chance to practice and exercise this skill. Join us to learn more about how to negotiate, when to do it, what to say and not to say, and what benefits are on the table to negotiate with.
Lunch will be provided, RSVP required. Please RSVP through this form at tinyurl.com/wmwhm2024 by March 19.
If you need an accommodation related to a disability, please contact Bella RaeAnne at 757-221-1666 or email [[braeanne]] no later than 7 business days before the event date. Accommodation requests received within a week of the event will be provided to the extent possible.
