Come and learn about careers in historic preservation, public history, and cultural resource management from Todd Ballance, Executive Director of Historic St. Luke's Church. Todd will also be available to discuss internship opportunities at St. Luke's, Virginia's Oldest Church.

Todd Ballance is a passionate cultural resource manager who lives in Smithfield, Virginia. Following graduation from Longwood University with a BA in historic preservation, Ballance accepted appointments at Colonial Williamsburg, the Virginia War Museum, and The Civil War at Endview Plantation. Following his early career stints in museums, he served as a group sales manager at The Omni Homestead Resort, Hot Springs, Virginia and The Tides Inn, Irvington, Virginia. This period of his career provided him with the sales and business experience he needed to cultivate a business acumen. Since 2009 Ballance merged his passion for historic preservation, knowledge of hospitality sales, and experience in tourism marketing into his consulting firm, Ballance Consulting. His clients herald from Florida to New York. More recently he was site coordinator at Virginia's Oldest House, Bacon's Castle, Surry, Virginia (1665), and today the executive director at Virginia's Oldest Church, Historic St. Luke's, Smithfield, Virginia (1686). He advocates historic preservation, heritage tourism, public history, and cultural attractions.
