Given by Jeremy Stoddard, School of Education. This session will focus on strategies for leading discussions of films that center on controversial issues and topics. In particular, these examples will focus on films dealing with issues of race, gender, class, or controversial social, ethical, and political issues. This session will be useful for faculty and instructional staff across the arts and sciences and professional schools. Several specific pedagogical strategies will be discussed as well as information for thinking about the selection and use of film in the college classroom.
