[PAST EVENT] Apply for the 2021 Conservation Research Program
The Charles Center and the Institute for Integrative Conservation are pleased to offer an integrative conservation research program for W&M undergraduate students in 2021. Students engaged in this program will work alongside conservation partners and faculty mentors to complete applied, interdisciplinary research projects needed to advance real-world conservation action and policy. Students in this program will enroll in an independent research course (e.g. CONS 490, BIOL 403, ENSP 490, GIS 480) in the spring of 2021, will receive a $4000 summer stipend and an option to apply for free W&M summer housing to complete the project on a full-time basis over the summer, and will enroll in an independent research course (e.g. CONS 490, BIOL 403, ENSP 490, GIS 480) in the fall of 2021. Students will also be required to participate in weekly meetings with conservation and faculty mentors and join a weekly IIC research lab meeting (Fridays from 2-3pm) throughout the entire program. The program is open to all W&M undergraduate students who expect to graduate on or after December 2021. Given the integrative aspect of these projects, we are specifically looking to recruit a cohort of undergraduate students with diverse skills, experiences, perspectives, and majors who will work together on these interdisciplinary projects. You do not need to have previous conservation experience or have a specific major to apply for this program.
Applications are due on December 4, 2020
