Please join us for a fun and exciting symposium on baseball and the important role it has played in shaping US-Japan relations over the past century and a half! We will hear from a range of players and experts, including Bobby Valentine (famed player and coach), Jim Small (Senior Vice President for MLB-International), Masanori “Mashi” Murakami (the first Japanese-born MLB player), Greg “Boomer” Wells (triple-crown winner in the Japanese professional league), Brad Lefton (baseball journalist and specialist), Derek Moscato (political scientist), Sayuri Guthrie Shimizu (historian), and more! Organized by the US-Japan Baseball Diplomacy Project, this symposium will also showcase our students’ research and introduce you to a fun Williamsburg little league team. Baseball and sports fans, unite!
