[PAST EVENT] ACS Comment Writing Drive: Tell Secretary DeVos your thoughts on proposed Title IX rules
Access & Features
- Free food
- Registration/RSVP
Late last year, the Department of Education issued a notice of proposed rulemaking, kicking off the process of writing regulations that would significantly reduce schools? obligations to respond to sexual harassment and violence under Title IX of the Education Amendments Act. You can read more about the proposed regulation and the regressive impacts it could have on the campus sexual assault crisis here.
Snacks will be provided as we get together to draft and submit individual comments on the proposed rule. We will kick off with a brief overview of the proposal by 3L Mara Shingleton. Then, we will each draft comments for submission to the Department. Your comment can be as short or as comprehensive as you would like, and if you can?t make the event or don?t think you?ll finish in time, you can still submit a comment (so long as you meet the January 28th deadline). Our goal is to empower students to participate in a rulemaking process that will affect us and students on campuses across the country.
If you plan to attend or would like more information on writing a comment, please fill out this short form. We hope to see you on Tuesday!
