Location
Patricia Schell Memorial Meeting Room, Williamsburg Regional LibraryAccess & Features
- Open to the public
Are you curious about your family tree and wish you knew more? Are you interested in genealogy & family history research but have no idea where to start? We invite you to join us for the first in a series of genealogy workshops sponsored by William & Mary’s Bray School Lab. Join Elizabeth Drembus, genealogist at the Lab, for an evening workshop at the Williamsburg Regional Library. During this session, you will learn how to get started on your family history journey, what resources and records are used in genealogy research, and collect some tricks of the trade.
The William & Mary Bray School Lab provides genealogy workshops and consultations to the descendant community in Williamsburg and beyond. The Summer 2023 Oral History and Genealogy Workshops are co-sponsored by the William & Mary Bray School Lab and William & Mary Libraries. They are free and open to the public and held in-person in and around the Williamsburg area.
Elizabeth Drembus is leading efforts to identify and document the genealogical lines of all known Williamsburg Bray School students. Prior to joining William & Mary’s Bray School Lab, Elizabeth was a genealogist for the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and a member of the research team for the Virginia Theological Seminary’s Reparations Research Project. For over a decade, she has contributed her historical research expertise to projects in collaboration with local history organizations in Northern Virginia. Elizabeth credits her grandmother with sparking an interest in her family tree when she was in eighth grade.
