April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). During this month advocates, survivors, and the William & Mary community come together to talk openly about sexual violence to support survivors, increase awareness, and identify strategies and resources to prevent sexual violence.

The first opportunity to participate in SAAM offerings is the Empowerment Self- Defense class on April 1, 2025, at 6:30 in the Sadler Center.

Empowerment self-defense is a program that teaches practical skills to help people avoid, respond to, and heal from violence. It includes physical techniques, verbal confrontation, and safety strategies. The curriculum is evidence-based and trauma-informed.

All SAAM programs are inspired by survivors and open to the William and Mary community including students, faculty, and staff.
