His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, considered one of the world's most influential spiritual leaders and winner of the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize, will speak at William & Mary. The Dalai Lama is expected to deliver a lecture focused on the virtues of human compassion.

The event, which is being sponsored by the {{http://www.wmstudentassembly.com/,William & Mary Student Assembly}}, is open to the public. {{http://web.wm.edu/amp/,Alma Mater Productions (AMP)}} - the student programming committee - along with the {{http://www.wmirc.org/,International Relations Club}} are also co-sponsors. This fall, the Dalai Lama is visiting several U.S. colleges and universities throughout the Northeast. His lecture at William & Mary is part of a larger tour at a number of schools across the country, including stops at Middlebury College and Western Connecticut State University. In April, he spoke at the University of Hawaii.

The Dalai Lama has received many awards, honorary doctorates and prizes in recognition of his message of peace, inter-religious understanding, universal responsibility and compassion. The author of more than 72 books, he has traveled to more than 62 countries spanning 6 continents.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama does not charge a speaking engagement fee, and no aspect of His Holiness' visit is being used to profit financially.
