What is BDS?

This presentation discusses the dimensions, rationale, reasoning and history of the global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Campaign, a non-violence form of protest called for by 60 Palestinian academic, cultural and civil society organizations and labor unions. Currently, the BDS movement and activists have been attacked as being anti-Semitic and a number of states have targeted the BDS movement with legislation that threatens First Amendment and other Constitutional Rights. This presentation will argue for BDS as the most effective, non-violent means of protest against Israeli violations of Palestinians rights. In doing so, it will also clearly and unambiguously distinguish valid, political criticism of the State of Israel (and the state's Apartheid policies) from any and all forms of anti-Semitism, which the movement abhors and denounces.
