In Sitayana, we return to Hinduism's great epic, Ramayana, to witness the legendary life of Sita, sublime princess of the earth. Through song, dance, chant, ritual, and ceremony, we will witness how Princess Sita powerfully and gracefully navigates her journey of womanhood, from a baby found on the rice fields to a Queen doubted by her public. This is a faculty & student collaboration in research, composition, and performance with fieldwork done in Bali & Java, Indonesia sponsored by the Hunt Fund & the Reves Center International Faculty Fellowship.
