[PAST EVENT] Healing and Resilience: Experience of Rwandan Women Survivors of the Genocide against the Tutsi

Liliane Pari Umuhoza, human rights advocate and survivor of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, will share her experience during the genocide and her commitment to promote healing for women traumatized by the genocide through the founding of Women Genocide Survivors Retreat. Liliane works with fellow survivors to ensure that “Never Again” becomes a reality in our contemporary world. She has spoken on peacebuilding, human rights, and women empowerment at the United Nations, Yad Vashem, and Embassy of Rwanda, among others, and is currently an MPPGA Candidate at the University of British Columbia.
Professor Tyler Goldberger’s HIST 211: Post-1945 United States Memory and Human Rights course welcomes any and all interested in learning about the power of individuals in speaking out against hate and violence to combat human rights violations and genocide logically, regionally, nationally, and transnationally. This event will take place on Thursday, November 17th from 8:30a-9:20a in Blair 229.
