[PAST EVENT] APIA Alumni Career Panel
Are you an undergraduate student looking to gain insight into life after college, industry challenges, and professional development advice? Mark your calendars for Tuesday, April 4 from 8 PM to 9 PM in Tucker Hall, Room 111, as the Asian American Student Initiative (AASI) is hosting a career panel featuring successful APIA William & Mary alumni. During the panel, you will have the opportunity to hear from five alumni about their experiences since graduating from William & Mary, which will help as you prepare for your future career.

Franklin jin Rho – Class of 1996, TV Writer/Producer
Most recently a writer/producer on GOOSEBUMPS, an upcoming Sony/Disney+ series, Franklin's writing credits include PACHINKO, SWAMP THING, and THE EXORCIST. A graduate of the American Film Institute's directing program, Franklin's short film THE MONSTER AND THE PEANUT was awarded a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and won the first prize Emmy for Best Dramatic Student film from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Richard Luong – Class of 2008, Director of Institutional Advancement at Rising for Justice
Richard graduated with a double major in Government and Economics and was eventually admitted to the Virginia Bar. Richard began his career in environmental litigation representing citizen groups adversely affected by natural gas drilling in Pennsylvania and New York, then transitioned to non-profit management. Currently, he works at Rising for Justice, a non-profit law firm with an embedded legal clinic and social work program serving communities in Washington, DC.
Emily Wasek — Class of 2017, Development Manager at Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum
Emily graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Government and a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. Emily currently serves as Development Manager at the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF), the oldest and largest health advocacy organization. In her role, she builds strategic partnerships that share APIAHF’s commitment to promoting health access, quality, and equity in AANHPI communities through fundraising and relationship management.
Heein Choi – Class of 2018, Hedgefund Investment Analyst
Heein graduated with a double major in APIA studies and finance. While at William & Mary, Heein played on the club basketball team, helped establish AASI, and was involved with KASA/CSO. Heein currently works at a hedge fund now as an investment analyst.
Abhi Chadha – Class of 2020, Financial Services Consulting at EY
Abhi was a Finance & Government major at William & Mary, involved with Griffin Bhangra, Student Assembly, Orientation, ODK, International Relations Club, Admissions, and President’s Aide. Abhi is currently a Senior Consultant at EY in San Francisco, working with global firms ranging from early-stage FinTechs to large financial services corporations on their most pressing challenges. In his time at the firm, Abhi has developed experience in product design, public readiness, sustainable finance, corporate governance, and risk strategy.
