Location

This year, the LASU Spring Event aims to highlight various aspects of Latinx culture and the different demographics present in our organization and on campus. The first part of the event consists of the LASU Showcase, themed “El Chisme Caliente” (“The Hot Gossip”). The first performance, Latinx Music Remix, will highlight various dances, such as Bachata, Salsa, Merengue, and Reggaeton. We will also have two mini skits, the first titled “Año Nuevo” highlighting the various traditions that different Latin American people participate in on New Year's and ending with some chisme. The second skit is titled “Truth Behind the Lie” which highlights the importance of friendship and community within soccer and sports as a whole. The showcase will finalize with “A Celebration of Latin Style” which is a fashion show, where members will represent their countries with traditional clothing, flags, and anything representing their motherland; we currently have 12 countries being represented and are currently working on including more. 

Following the showcase, we will move upstairs to the LASU Banquet portion of the evening, the theme for this portion is “Con Amor” (“With Love”). During this time, guests will have the opportunity to sample delicious dishes from various Latin American countries. During this banquet, a slideshow will be played, allowing LASU members to reflect on the past year. The primary objective of the banquet portion is to embody the community presence of LASU and explore the significance of love and its relation to family in the Latinx community.
