Relay For Life is one of spring's most attended W&M events, an overnight fundraiser and the American Cancer Society's signature event. This year Relay will take place April 12-13 on Busch Field. The event gets its name from the fact that teams are asked to keep at least one member walking around the track at all times. Cancer never sleeps, so neither will we! Activities and performances continue throughout the night, and there are three major ceremonies during this dynamic event: Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back. We begin with a Survivor Lap in celebration of all those who are battling with or have overcome cancer. Then, we continue with a Luminaria Ceremony at night, a touching time for reflection and reverence. In the morning, we finish with pledges to actively fight cancer in the future.

Survivor support and celebration is an important part of Relay, starting with the survivor luncheon prior to the event, continuing with the Survivor Lap and Luminaria Ceremony, and concluding with our promise in the morning to continue fighting cancer. If you or someone close to you has fought or is fighting cancer, or has been a caregiver for a cancer patient, we hope they will consider attending our event as well.

Support from the William and Mary faculty and staff is an integral part of our event and we would love to share the magical Relay experience with you. We need the entire William and Mary community to come together for the night to be a success. Stop by for a few hours, or all night, and invite your friends and family to join you. Relay is kid friendly! Please consider registering on a team or independently at {{http://www.relay.org/wm, Relay For Life}}. If you have any questions, please contact [[e|lepugh, Laura Pugh]] (Event Co-Chair, W&M Colleges Against Cancer). We hope to see you in April!
