[PAST EVENT] Come Celebrate the Sounds of Black History: Mississippi Moonchile
February 21, 2015
3pm - 4pm
Join us for a listening session of the second chapter in Matana Roberts' Coin Coin project: Mississippi Moonchile.
In Mississippi Moonchile, Matana Roberts combines music and spoken word by using a form she calls
panoramic sound quilting, partially in deference to her heritage from a line of quilters.
With a sextet of saxophone, trumpet, bass, drums, piano and an operatic tenor, Roberts takes us on a journey
through her grandmother's life through the 20th century.
