About

Since 2005, William & Mary Libraries? Charles W. Reeder Media Center has hosted the highly anticipated 24 Speed Filmmaking Competition. The rules are simple: write, shoot, and edit a short film in just 24 hours! The contest is open to W&M students and alumni, pros and amateurs alike, and is a chance to show your filmmaking chops on the big screen.

24 Speed | Competition

The 12th Annual 24 Speed Filmmaking Competition kicks off on Friday, February 10th, 2017 at 5:30pm. Student teams are expected to show up in person at the Ford Classroom at the Reeder Media Center (located on the ground floor of Swem Library), whereas alumni teams can tune in via live Google Hangout. At the kickoff ceremony, each team will be given a prop and line of dialogue that must be used in their film, as well as a genre for their film.

Filmmaking equipment can be checked out from the Reeder Media Center right before the competition. We have high-quality video cameras, DSLRs, shotgun microphones, audio interfaces and recorders, etc. Check out our guides page for more information on the specific video and audio gear we have available.

24 Speed | Screening
