Terrance Hayes is a 2014 MacArthur Fellow, the winner of the 2019 Hurston/Wright Award for Poetry, a National Book Award winner, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Awards in both poetry and criticism, and a finalist for the TS Eliot Prize and Kingsley Tufts Award. The author of Lighthead, How to be Drawn, American Sonnets for My Past and Future Assassin, and other works, he currently teaches at NYU.
