After accepting a position in an American school in Germany in 1950, Doris Baker began traveling throughout the world, always with her camera by her side. While she documented many interesting sites, the most captivating aspect of her photographs is her emphasis on people. Doris donated her photography collection to Swem Library in 2012, and we are pleased to showcase a selection of her Cold War era photos from Europe, Asia and Africa.
An opening reception for "Viewing the World: Travel Photography through Doris Baker's Lens" will be held Thursday, Dec. 5 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in Swem Library's 3rd floor Rotunda Gallery. Doris will provide a brief introduction to the collection. Coffee, hot apple cider and desserts served. RSVP to: [[swemrsvp]].
