The Five Great Hazing Myths is a program developed by hazing author and researcher Gentry McCreary, Ph.D. The program presents and dissects five common myths used by students to defend and justify hazing. The program offers students a variety of strategies to employ in addressing the hazing culture in their organizations.
The myths confronted are:
- Hazing builds better members
- It isn?t hazing if the newest members volunteer to participate
- Hazing builds commitment to the group
- Hazing teaches respect
- Hazing is a tradition
