Victor Haskins & SKEIN will take you on a journey with your emotions and imagination as they perform unique, powerful original works based on Candomblé rhythms. Candomblé is an Afro-Brazilian religion which was founded in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. In 2018, Victor visited Salvador and studied these rhythms directly from an alabé (a priest who plays the atabaque drums for a Candomblé ceremony) named África. Since receiving that powerful cultural and musical learning, Haskins composed 17 different compositions inspired by these various rhythms for his ensemble, SKEIN. Prepare for a riveting, energizing, one-of-a-kind musical experience!
