Reimagining Art through Environmental History & Ecology
Through their perception, production, and prophecy, artists provide the tools to imagine our place in the world – and, perhaps, imagine a better one. Hear from Professor Braddock as he draws on historical and current examples to describe an “ecology” of art interlaced with the people and environments surrounding us.
Alumni, parents, family and friends are welcome to join. Time will be available for Q&A.
About Professor Braddock:
Professor Braddock’s teaching and research explore the history of American and global art, ecology, environmental justice, and animal studies. He is the author of several books and has curated national exhibitions. In 2019-20, he was a fellow at Getty Research Institute, in Los Angeles, developing a new book titled Implication: An Ecocritical Dictionary for Art History. The Getty Research Institute has also invited him to co-edit a new global anthology on art history and ecology.
