A Reception will be held at Andrews Gallery on Thursday, April 17th, from 4-6pm.

About the exhibition:

From Lynn Trott:

For me, a forest walk is a journey through the unexpected, slow and halting, as if art was creating itself from every angle. That sense of wonder is the impetus for this installation. Clay, metal, and wood combine to create spaces which are at once foreign and familiar. The art references forests and woodlands using derivative and abstract shapes, which you can wander through, just as in a real forest. My hope is to open a path of contemplation about what forests mean to us through the Museum Effect, described by J. K. Smith as leading viewers of art to directly examine their lives, relationships, and contributions to society.

From Maddie Meyers:

Hiraeth is a collection of work exploring the idea of longing for the sense of a home that one can no longer return to. This perspective is explored through both analog photographs and watercolors and is deeply influenced by ecofeminist perspectives and ideologies. The selection on display is an amalgamation of four years of consideration and exploration based on personal experience, spirituality, and commentary on anthropocentric thinking and its connection to the female experience living in our current political space.
