Aura CuriAtlas Physical Theatre presents The Zombie Life: A Seminar for Humans Seeking Conversion on July 28, 29, and 30 at the Williamsburg Regional Library. This self-help seminar is from a therapist with a unique remedy for life's hardships: become a zombie! His converted assistants provide testimonials, but as the seminar unfolds, they verge dangerously off script. Should we all convert – or are there secrets to life that even this ultimate therapy can’t cure?
The Zombie Life is written by Chris Gavaler and directed by Joan Gavaler with scenography by Matthew Allar. Performers include Clifford Clark, Kevin Clauberg, Allison Stover, Chasida Taylor, and Ed Whitacre. After the seminar, there will be an opportunity for conversation with the cast. This show contains mature themes.
Aura CuriAtlas, led by W&M Profesor Joan Gavaler, was founded in 2013 to create performances with collaborators using dance, theatre, acrobatics, videography, sound, and text. The company values curiosity (Curi), lightness (Aura), and strength (Atlas) in the creative process. Their wholeheartedness, risk-taking, and use of physical storytelling make Aura CuriAtlas stories meaningful, engaging, and thought-provoking. They have toured in the U. S. and internationally as well as presenting performances and workshops in digital spaces.
The Zombie Life is made possible by support from the Williamsburg Area Arts Commission, the Williamsburg Regional Library, and William & Mary.
