The William & Mary Confucius Institute is happy to welcome Carole Louie for a talk on her latest book: The Story of Yangshi Lei: The Legacy of the Lei Family Architects Lives On. Architecture is a historic art practiced in China, the most impactful group of architects in China being the Yangshi Lei family, who served eight of the Qing Dynasty emperors and are responsible for the creation of one-fifth of China's World Heritage Sites. The Story of Yangshi Lei discusses how the author came to learn more about her ties to the Yangshi Lei family, their legacy as architects, and how it connects to her life today.
The talk is free and open to the public. The talk will go from 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. After the book talk, a Q&A and a brief reception will be held.
