He has been awarded the Indian National Film Award sixteen times and the Kerala State Film Awards a record of seventeen times. He was awarded the British Film Institute Award and the French Legion of Honor in 1982, the State Honours Padma Shri in 1984, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2004 for his valuable contributions to Indian cinema, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2006.  Please join us for this rare opportunity to meet the great artist himself.

Adoor’s films are unique since they articulate stories of human and social issues that work universally but simultaneously have a very local background, form and setting. It is very impressive to find an original answer to a very general question of how you translate local, social and historical questioning to a global level and at the same time, discover a new world.
