Join the American Constitution Society in welcoming Professor Chavis to William & Mary. Currently a professor at Wake Forest Law, she will be starting at William & Mary next year. She will be discussing her work in criminal justice reform, including jury transparency, excessive force, and hate crime legislation, as well as her plans to start a Center for Criminal Justice Reform here at William & Mary.
Professor Chavis is a former Assistant US Attorney for the District of Columbia and is a leader in the field of police accountability. She's also written for the New York Times & Huffington Post, and has been quoted in news outlets like the Wall Street Journal and BBC.
