Russell Toth is an Associate Professor at the School of Economics at the University of Sydney. He is a development microeconomist with a focus on private sector growth, including firms, finance access, entrepreneurship, markets, and new technologies, such as instant payment systems. His talk, "The Impact of Fast Payment Systems on Financial Inclusion in Emerging Markets: Evidence from India," will focus on the impact of India's innovative Unified Payments Interface (UPI) on the country’s economy, in particular the movement away from cash to digital payments and other digital financial services.
