Our guest speaker for this session is Pickering Fellow Jake Nelson ?11. Jake graduated from W&M with degrees in Music and French & Francophone Studies before getting his MA in European and Russian Studies at Yale. He is currently serving as a Foreign Service Officer in Algeria.

Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship Program provides undergraduate and graduate students with financial support, mentoring and professional development to prepare them academically and professionally for a career in the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service. Women, members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and students with financial need are encouraged to apply. Students expecting to receive their bachelor?s degree in spring 2018 are eligible for the undergraduate award and those seeking admission to a U.S. graduate school beginning in fall 2017 are eligible to apply for the graduate awards. The application will be due in January, 2017.
