In honor of Black History Month, Dr. Michael Blakey will speak on the significance of Smithsonian's new African American History and Culture Museum and the importance of preserving and chronicling black history. Dr. Blakey, a distinguished professor at W&M, served as a scholarly advisor for the museum. Dr. Blakey is also known for his work as the director of the New York African Burial Project in Manhattan.
