[PAST EVENT] Film Screening"How Difficult Can this Be? F.A.T. City Workshop: Understanding Learning Disabilities"
October 23, 2011
2pm - 3:30pm
Sponsored by the WJCC Special Education Advisory Committee, the William & Mary Special Education Advocacy Law PELE Clinic, and Citizens for Education.
The film will be introduced by Dr. Steven Constantino, WJC Superintendent of Schools. It will be followed by a Community Discussion. In the film, Dr. Richard Lavoie takes you on a journey of the world through the eyes of a child with learning disabilities by taking you to a unique workshop attended by parents, educators, psychologists, and social workers. There, they join in a series of classroom activities that cause frustration, anxiety and tension--emotions all too familiar to the student with a learning disability. By dramatizing classroom experience so vividly, Lavoie lets us see what children with learning disabilities experience every day. This film will change your understanding of those who learn differently.
