[PAST EVENT] Chinese Film Screening with English Subtitles
The William & Mary Confucius Institute (WMCI) will be hosting a film screening of the award-winning movie So Young, based on the bestselling novel of the same name. Considered by many to be a modern Chinese classic, So Young focuses on Chinese college students in the 1990's as they come of age in a changing world. A boy, born to a poor family, has the opportunity to make a better life for himself. A girl is determined to have a youth that will never fade away. The main character tries to find love. Through time, they each find their place in life, but all come to a single realization: youth is precious, but no matter what will one day slip away. This movie served as the first major motion picture for a number of now famous Chinese movie stars, as well as the first movie directed by Zhao Wei. The movie will be screened in Washington Hall room 201 on Friday, September 23rd, from 7-9 PM. Chinese candy will be served, and this event is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
