Professor Stephanie McCurry will talk about organizing research, thinking through arguments, and crafting the big book.
Stephanie McCurry is Christopher H. Browne Distinguished Professor of History at the University of Pennsylvania. Her first book, Masters of Small Worlds: Yeoman Households and the Political Culture of the Antebellum South Carolina Low Country (Oxford UP, 1995), won numerous prizes including the John Hope Franklin Prize and the Charles Syndor Award. Her latest book, Confederate Reckoning: Power and Politics in the Civil War South (Harvard UP, 2010), won the Frederick Douglass Prize and the Merle Curti Award. It was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in History.
