[PAST EVENT] Winter Break Global Business Immersion - Southeast Asia

Course Objective: To explore the Southeast Asian economies and provide students with first hand knowledge and experience with the region?s culture and business environment.


The primary objectives of this course are: 1) to introduce students to the interactive concepts of marketing and culture as it pertains to the USA and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations). In particular, we will examine three of these Southeast Asian nations: Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam Trade & Economic Security, 2) to enable students to understand the cultural issues at the corporate, national and transnational levels, 3) to provide insights on effective marketing and management decision making in unfamiliar or cross-cultural settings, particularly with respect to unilateral inflow/outflow of resources as a historic national security top priority, and 4) most importantly to give students unique experiences with Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam cultural immersion.


Fall /Spring Semester Credit: 3.0 to 4.5 hours The Hours are 1.5 in the Fall 2018 and 1.5 or 3 in the Spring 2019 (the 4.5 hour version includes a research paper deliverable).


Eight three hour class meetings will be held prior to the departure and two following our return. Dates to be determined but evening classes and possible weekend classes are planned for visits and Guest Lectures.
