This spring, visit some of the most exciting exhibitions coming to the region’s best museums, and leave the planning to us. On Saturday, April 1, we’ll travel to the Chrysler Museum of Art to see Preston Singletary: Raven and the Box of Daylight, an immersive exhibition that merges visual art and theatrical storytelling. Featuring the work of internationally acclaimed glass artist Preston Singletary, the show tells the Native American story of Raven and his transformation of the world — bringing light to people by means of the stars, moon and sun.
We’ll first gather at William & Mary for a lunch-and-learn presentation by Dr. Danielle Moretti-Langholz, Curator of Native American Art at the Muscarelle, on Tlingit culture and the work of Preston Singletary and fellow native artists of the Pacific Northwest Coast. We’ll then join Dr. Moretti-Langholtz’s class for our trip to the Chrysler Museum. In addition to viewing the Preston Singletary exhibition, you will have time to explore the rest of the museum on your own.
Boxed lunch and transportation included.
Fee: Muscarelle members, W&M faculty, staff and students: $25; Non-members: $35
