[PAST EVENT] Ewell Concert Series: Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra

October 17, 2012
7:30pm
Location
Kimball Theatre
The sole surviving print of this MGM classic, directed by King Vidor and starring John Gilbert, was discovered in France in 2006 and then restored. Mont Alto's five-piece ensemble - premier silent film composers and accompanists in the United States- will perform a rich, engaging original score of period photo-play music for this swash-buckling action romance. This screening with live accompaniment is a rare opportunity to experience film history first hand. Come experience what inspired later homages to early cinema including "Singin' in the Rain" and last year's Academy Award winner "The Artist." The audience will also be treated to Mont Alto's live accompaniment of a surprise short before the main feature, and the group's leader, Rodney Sauer, will make a brief presentation before the films.

This concert is co-sponsored by William & Mary's Film Studies Program.
