The Center for Student Diversity, in partnership with the Office of Diversity & Inclusion and the W&M School of Education, invite you to join us for a fireside chat with Dr. Clayborne Carson, world-renowned Martin Luther King Jr. scholar as we discuss historical reflections on activism and the intersection of Dr. King’s philosophy with contemporary movements for justice and equality.
Dr. Clayborne Carson is the founding director of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute and the Martin Luther King Papers Project, which has meticulously edited and published Dr. King's papers. His groundbreaking research has provided invaluable insights into Dr. King's life and the broader struggle for social justice. Author of numerous books, Dr. Carson now directs The World House Project, focusing on global human rights through education. With his teaching, writing, and public speaking, Dr. Carson continues to inspire and educate new generations about the pursuit of equality, justice, and nonviolent social change.
Dr. Jajuan Johnson, Public Historian for Research & Programs for The Lemon Project, will moderate the conversation. A formal dinner for students, faculty, staff, and honored guests will follow. Registration is required.
