Beyond a Single Story
Stories are powerful. They shape what we see and think. Too often, we know only a single story about each other. What stories do we have about sexuality, faith, nationality, culture, race, social class? Join us to unearth the multiplicity and complexity of who we are, what we believe, and why.
Students can apply to participate in one of our 5-session dialogues:
The Intersections of Faith & Sexuality
Tuesdays 7 - 8:30 pm
October 20, 27 and November 3, 10, 17
Otherwise known as "things you were told not to talk about with polite company." This dialogue is for anyone who has ever pondered the big questions of life, and wondered how they intersect with experiences of human sexuality. We want to hear from people of ALL world views, belief systems and sexual orientations!
United We Stand? Exploring Nationality and Culture
Tuesdays 7 - 8:30 pm
October 20, 27 and November 3, 10, 17
What has shaped your national or cultural identity? Is nationality separate from cultural identity? How has one shaped your perception of the other? What do these terms even mean to us? Let's talk about the intersections of national and cultural identities and the experiences that have shaped the way we identify ourselves in the world.
From Race to Riches
Wednesdays 8 - 9:30 pm
October 21, 28 and November 4, 11, 18
How do race and socioeconomic status intersect in America? How do these two pieces of our lives contribute to and influence each other? Can we talk about one without the other? Join us in an open space where we can share our own experiences and hear others.
