Dr. Zach Conrad, Assistant Professor of Kinesiology and Margaret S. Glauber Fellow, 2021-2023 at William & Mary, will present his research on food system sustainability using data science. Food system sustainability research requires integrating data from diverse disciplines including the natural sciences, economics, public policy, and human nutrition, and evaluating these interdependencies to understand impacts (e.g., on human health, environmental sustainability, and affordability) and tradeoffs. The emerging field of data science provides a way to do this by integrating methods from nutritional epidemiology with food system science. This presentation will describe the application of these methods as they are being used by the Nutritional Epidemiology and Food Systems Lab in the Kinesiology Department.
