VIMS and ODU are excited to reunite to host the 2024 Blue Crab Bowl, the regional competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl.
In this academic competition, high school students from competing schools answer multiple-choice, short-answer, and long-answer analytical questions drawn from scientific and technical ocean science disciplines. Topics covered include biology, chemistry, physics, geology, as well as maritime history, marine policy and current events. Bowl officials and judges manage the matches and rule on answer acceptability.
The winning team of the regional Blue Crab Bowl goes on to compete in the national competition with the winning teams from other regional bowls.
Observation of competition matches is open to the public.
