VIMS is excited to once again join the Virginia Osprey Foundation for the 7th Annual Virginia Osprey Festival in beautiful waterfront Colonial Beach, Virginia.

The Virginia Osprey Festival is one of the largest festivals of its kind celebrating the osprey’s annual return to Colonial Beach, birdwatching and the area's abundant natural resources.

The festival’s core focus is sharing in-depth information on Colonial Beach's impressive osprey population, and introducing people to the fascinating pastime of bird watching. The festival includes presentations delivered by bird experts at the Potomac River Fisheries Commission, opportunities to get up close and personal with live birds of prey, bird walks led by Audubon Chapter guides, trolley nest tours led by local experts, bird-related arts and crafts for children, and a variety of community partners exhibiting to share their love and adoration for ospreys and the Chesapeake Bay at large. A variety of craft vendors and food trucks will be on sight as well.

All events on Town Hill, including the Batten School & VIMS' exhibit space, are FREE and open to the public. Tickets are only required for presentations at the Fisheries Building and golf cart and trolley nest tours. A single ticket is $10 and a "full nest" family ticket is $15 in advance; and will increase by $5 on the day of the festival. Children 12 and under are FREE but must be accompanied by an adult.
