Science in 180 Seconds: Watch the First Annual VIMS Three Minute Thesis Competition

Interested in learning about the fantastic marine-science-related research occurring in your backyard--and beyond--at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS)?

If so, please join the VIMS community on Wednesday, October 22, as more than two dozen graduate students of the College of William & Mary's School of Marine Science at VIMS showcase their research in the first annual Three Minute Thesis competition. Competitors will have only three minutes and the aid of one PowerPoint slide to communicate their research projects in a compelling (and hopefully entertaining!) manner.

Topics will range from striped bass disease in Chesapeake Bay to plankton community structure off Bermuda to strategies for improving coastal-flood resilience in the Mid-Atlantic. First-place and second-place awards will be determined by a distinguished panel of judges, while the audience will vote to select the two recipients of the "People's Choice" award!

Admission is free to the public. We hope you can be a part of this exciting new VIMS tradition!
