The Jamestown Settlement maintains recreations of the three ships that brought colonists to Jamestown in 1607 (Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery). From September 28th through October 10th, the Godspeed, a 17th century pinnace, made the voyage from Jamestown to Baltimore MD and Alexandria VA. We fitted the vessel with 21st century oceanographic electronics to capture a snapshot of the water quality in Chesapeake Bay for the transit. The ship, the voyage, and the data will be presented by Richard A. Snyder, Ph.D., professor and Director of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science Eastern Shore Laboratory, who was on board for the voyage. There will also be a discussion of the state of the Bay and an update on building plans for VIMS ESL will be presented.

There is no charge for this presentation. Seating limited to 60 people.
