[PAST EVENT] Classical Studies Alumni Panel

The Classical Studies Department and Eta Sigma Phi are hosting a virtual panel featuring 6 alumni who have pursued careers outside of the field of Classics. Each panelist will speak for 10 minutes, followed by a Q&A period. The panel will take place from 11am-1 pm EST on Saturday, October 17 at this zoom link (913 7108 3750). Mary McCulla, ‘16
Mary is a project assistant for the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) where she works on exhibition development, content research, and intellectual property management. She received her Bachelors in Classical Archaeology and recently received her Masters in Museum Studies from George Washington University.
Lauren Appel, ’10
Lauren has spent 3 years as a school counselor and 6 years as a Behavior Specialist for a North Carolina school system. When she’s not working, she is hiking, caving or going on any other sort of adventure.
Samantha O’Neal, ‘14
Since passing the bar last year, Samantha has been working in estate planning and trusts in downtown Boston. She fondly remembers going to Italy with Professor Spaeth, learning Latin with Professor Panoussi and creating models of Roman homes with Professor Swetnam-Burland.

Doug Bunch, ’02, ‘06 J.D.
Mr. Bunch is a partner at the Washington, D.C. law firm Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll, where he is a litigator in the Securities Fraud & Investor Protection Practice Group. He has recently taken on litigation against large chemical manufacturers for pollution of public drinking water. He is also a member of the William & Mary Board of Visitors.
Sarah Warburton
Sarah Warburton is the author of Once Two Sisters, published September 2020 by Crooked Lane Books. This debut thriller has been recommended by Publishers Weekly, PopSugar, and CrimeReads. The oldest of four sisters, she was raised in Virginia and is an avid reader and knitter.
Olivia Jameson, ’18
Olivia graduated with a concentration in Latin in December 2018. She is currently a graduate student at UNC-Chapel Hill, pursuing a Master of Science in Library Science. Her favorite adaptation of classical mythology is Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.
